In the mid-1970s, Mr. Forth pursued a major at U.B.C. in Honours English before transferring to U.B.C.’s Law School, where he was awarded the Book Prize in Law and graduated with his Bachelor of Laws in 1977.

Prior to Law School, Mr. Forth won numerous public speaking awards and was elected as valedictorian to both his High School and College graduating classes. In college, Mr. Forth was awarded the Governor General’s Silver Medal in his graduating year (the gold medal being reserved as a University award) for obtaining a 4.0 grade point average over two years, the highest attainable in the B.C. community college system. Mr. Forth also served as President of the Douglas College Student Society.

After Law School, Mr. Forth joined the Vancouver law firm of Barbeau, McKercher, Collingwood and Hanna, becoming its youngest partner in 1981. In 1984, Mr. Forth, Ken Hanna and Graham Scott formed Hanna, Forth & Scott, one of the earliest boutique securities firms in Vancouver. After the dissolution of Hanna, Forth & Scott in 1988, Mr. Forth established his practice as a sole practioner, a practice formula that has endured to this day.

Mr. Forth has co-ordinated and served as a panellist for numerous British Columbia Continuing Legal Education Courses, including Junior Resource Securities, Vancouver Stock Exchange Practice, Securities Practice and Procedure, Securities Act (B.C.) and Regulations, Dangers & Pitfalls in Advising on Commercial Transactions and Fraud in Commercial Transactions. He has also appeared as a lecturer and panellist for the Western Securities Law Institute, the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, the International Resource Forum and the Northwest Mining Association, among others.

Mr. Forth has also has served as an independent director of public companies in various sectors, including service on Corporate Governance, Audit and Special Committees.
